In Ghaziabad, a 35-year-old man was taken into custody on Sunday for the alleged killing of a 70-year-old woman during a confrontation with her son in Madhuban Bapudham. The police reported that the woman, Ramvati Devi, intervened to protect her son, Bijendra Kumar, during an argument with the accused, Majid, who resides in the same area. According to an official, Majid pushed Ramvati during the altercation, causing her to fall and sustain fatal injuries. ACP Abhishek Srivastava stated that Bijendra resided with his brother and mother in LIG flats under the Kanshiram Avas Yojna. The incident occurred around 12.30 am on Sunday when Majid, an e-rickshaw driver under the influence of alcohol, was confronted by Bijendra. Ramvati attempted to intervene and calm the situation but was pushed by Majid, leading to her tragic death. Ramvati's body underwent a post-mortem examination, and an FIR has been lodged at Madhuban Bapudham police station. The accused appeared in court and has been remanded to judicial custody.
